
Honoring Joy on National Down Syndrome Day
Today, on National Down Syndrome Day, we recognize that children with Down Syndrome are 10 to 20 times more likely to develop leukemia. This unique connection between childhood cancer and Down Syndrome—a reality for many families, including our beloved Keaton’s Kiddo, Joy.
While the focus is understandably on the child battling cancer, siblings face their own emotional challenges. They may experience feelings of worry, fear, confusion, or even guilt, and it’s important to acknowledge their role and provide support for them as well.

Meet Keaton’s Kiddo – Jaylen
Jaylen is a sweet and thoughtful 4-year-old. Jaylen was diagnosed almost 6 months ago with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. His Mom shared the journey from her perspective.
“It started as a normal weekend for us and ended with Jaylen being in the hospital for two weeks. Thankfully, we noticed the signs his body was showing us, petechiae and lots of random bruises, that something was not right.”

Meet Keaton’s Kiddo – Avayah
Meet Keaton’s kiddo one-year-old, Avayah who is full of energy and smiles! In Apil of 2022, Avayah was unfortunately diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), a slowly progressing and uncommon type of blood-cell cancer that begins in the bone marrow, and is caused by a chromosome mutation that occurs spontaneously. Since the time of her diagnosis, Avayah’s family has had to make many adjustments to support her specific treatment needs.

Meet Keaton’s Kiddo – Perry
Meet Keaton’s kiddo Perry, also known as Baby P! Baby P was referred to Keaton’s at just 7 months old when he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma on May 9, 2022. Baby P’s journey has been far from simple.

Meet Keaton’s Kiddo – Colby
At just 10 years old, on April 29, 2021, Keaton’s Kiddo Colby was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), which represents around 12%-15% of pediatric leukemia patients.

Meet Diana, an amazing and bright teen in our program. Diana’s journey with Keaton’s began five years ago, when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, at the young age of 13.

Keaton’s Kiddo Sobhanulla, or Sobha is a kind 12-year-old boy that loves soccer and playing games on his dad’s phone. Once living a similar life to other kids in his community, his life presented a different path.
