Welcome 2021 – 2022 Interns

Join us in welcoming our 2021 – 2022 interns; Cianna and Amber. As the number of families that we support continues to rise, having interns provides the opportunity to connect more with families battling childhood cancer. The ability to host interns is such a valued part of Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance.

Cianna is attending Sacramento State University and is majoring in Social Work. After graduation, she hopes to explore different positions within child welfare or children’s law. Growing up in a large, low-income family, Cianna realized how important support is, along with creating trustworthy bonds. She has made it a priority to provide that for other families in need. Cianna chose her internship at Keaton’s because of the positive impact we have on families and all the help that we provide. During her time here, she hopes to grow in her communication skills, help relieve stress to the families she crosses paths with, and use these new skills to become a great Social Worker. “I am so thrilled to have this opportunity and be so welcomed by the team here at Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance. I hope to make a difference in any way that I can!”

Amber is a senior at Sacramento State, majoring in the field of Social Work. She plans to graduate in May of 2022 with her Bachelor’s degree. After graduation, Amber plans to continue with her education and obtain her Master’s degree in Social Work. Amber is interested in working either in medical social work or working closely with children and their families. She chose to do her internship with Keaton’s because she knew she would be helping young children and their families in a difficult time in their lives. Amber is very excited to intern at Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance to learn and grow with the new experiences that will help her grow into the Social Worker she wants to be. During her time at Keaton’s, she looks forward to being a part of the team, as well as part of each family’s journey.

The entire Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance team is pleased to have these wonderful interns for the course of their school year. They have already begun working with families and are making an impact. Welcome, Cianna and Amber!
