Hope, Strength, and Healing for families coping with a child cancer diagnosis

Meet Keaton Kiddo ~ Misael

Mighty Misael, a Keaton’s Kiddo, is a sweet and strong one-year-old. Misael loves cars especially if they light up and books to be read to him by his parents. Misael unfortunately was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocyte Leukemia, a cancer that affects the white blood cells. Misael has been so resilient and strong throughout his journey.

Being a little guy Misael, is still in diapers and through our partnership with Chicks in Crisis, we were able to support his family and provide diapers for him and his older brother, Santiago. Misael is also on his way to becoming a big brother. His mom is currently eight months pregnant continuing to be by Misael’s side as he receives treatment. Due to COVID Misael’s three-year-old brother, Santiago, is not able to be at bedside with him. Although this causes a lot of stress for his family, they continue to remain strong and come together to support one another.

As they navigate through their journey the Keaton’s Family Navigator Team has been able to provide gas cards and a financial grant to Misael and his family in hopes of alleviating stress so that Mom and Dad can focus primarily on Misael’s treatment.

We had the opportunity to meet Mom when hand-delivering Misael’s Hope Chest. Mom expressed her gratitude and shared heart-warming photos of Misael and his brother Santiago enjoying their goodies. We are so grateful and happy that we can provide these joy-filled experiences as the family steer through this journey.

” Thank you for reaching out to us and supporting us. It means a lot, especially during this difficult journey. Thank you so much for all the gifts. We are beyond blessed to be able to receive this help. God bless you all.” – Esmeralda ( Misael’s Mom)

Meet Keaton’s Kiddo – Ellora

Months before a clear diagnosis, Ellora was experiencing a loss of appetite, night sweats, and oversleeping. For Ellora, these symptoms were seen as normal for her or seen as natural changes in the growth of a 2-year-old. Eventually, she developed little spots on her hands and unexplained bruises on her body, which the doctors deemed Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), but after seeing an informative TikTok video on the symptoms Ellora was experiencing, her mom’s gut told her it was something more than a bleeding disorder.
