Meet Keaton’s Kiddo Elliana

Meet Keaton’s Kiddo, Elliana. Elliana is a bright seven-year-old who enjoys art, traveling, and cooking. In January of 2022, Elliana was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor, also known as Nephroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer that starts in the kidneys.

Despite the challenges that come with her childhood cancer diagnosis, Elliana continues to be brave while beginning her journey. Through her loving and caring mother and sister, she has the utmost support as she begins her treatments, ensuring that she receives all the emotional and medical care she needs.

Since being referred to Keaton’s, our Family Navigator Team has supported Elliana’s family with gas gift cards through our Travel Solutions Program to help support the cost of travel to and from treatments.

Thanks to our partnership with Raley’s, our team was happy to share grocery gift cards with her family to help ease the expense of food costs. In addition, we offered additional Nutritional Aid by providing Elliana and her sister with our Keaton Kiddo Cookbook that was placed in their family Hope Chest. When mom shared that her sister is interested in cooking, we thought it would be a fun way for the family to create fun memories together and are excited to see the yummy recipes that Elliana and her sister make.

Following the Hope Chest delivery, mom shared “the girls have been playing nonstop with their goodies, and Ellie has been sleeping with her new blanket”.

We are honored to be able to support Elliana and her family and to help navigate their journey of childhood cancer.

Honoring Joy on National Down Syndrome Day

Today, on National Down Syndrome Day, we recognize that children with Down Syndrome are 10 to 20 times more likely to develop leukemia. This unique connection between childhood cancer and Down Syndrome—a reality for many families, including our beloved Keaton’s Kiddo, Joy.

While the focus is understandably on the child battling cancer, siblings face their own emotional challenges. They may experience feelings of worry, fear, confusion, or even guilt, and it’s important to acknowledge their role and provide support for them as well.
