Meet Keaton’s Kiddo Isa

An Unexpected Journey

On August 2, 2022, at just 3 years old, Isa was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). In the weeks leading up to his diagnosis, his mom noticed that something wasn’t quite right. After several ER visits, doctors finally ordered bloodwork, and Isa’s cancer journey began.

Being diagnosed during the summer meant Isa couldn’t return to preschool that year. Instead, his days were filled with hospital stays, video calls with friends and family, and countless procedures. Despite the challenges – especially struggles with his weight – Isa rarely complained. He faced each step with courage and resilience.

Warrior mom Jaleesa shares, “He was a rockstar and the strongest kid. His positive attitude helped us through our low times.”

During this difficult time, Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance was honored to walk alongside Isa’s family, providing emotional support, financial relief, and special care packages to bring moments of joy and comfort at the annual family events. From check-ins with their Family Navigator to resources that eased the burden of treatment, Isa’s family knew they were not alone.

Celebrating Triumph

On November 27, 2024, just days before his sixth birthday, Isa proudly rang the bell to celebrate the end of treatment. The moment was pure joy for his family of four. Isa was over the moon – not just to be cancer-free, but also to finally say goodbye to his Broviac line, which meant he could go swimming again!

Now, 10 months later, Isa continues to thrive. Though he misses his “big hospital” for its food and the wonderful child-life team, he never forgets to proudly declare that he beat cancer. His journey is a true reminder of the strength and spirit of our childhood cancer warriors – and the power of community in helping families like Isa’s know they are not alone.

Jesus Learns to Walk Again

Before cancer, Jesus was always on the move-playing basketball, dancing, painting, doing puzzles, and bringing joy to everyone around him.
After overcoming three open heart surgeries by age 13 and navigating Down syndrome, Jesus was diagnosed with leukemia at just 16. Treatment has been long and exhausting. Months in the hospital… countless transfusions… and at one point, he even had to relearn how to walk.

A Mother’s Perspective

“The bell was loud, clear, and powerful – but the journey to earn those three rings was even louder. Hearing it echo through the halls was overwhelming… tears, relief, gratitude, and the deep ache of everything it took to reach this moment. We weren’t just hearing a bell – we were feeling every second, every battle, every ounce of courage it represented.

He didn’t just ring the bell. He rang in victory.”

~ Sarah, Mother of Charlie, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia B-Cell Warrior
