Hope, Strength, and Healing for families coping with a child cancer diagnosis

Keaton Raphael Memorial Celebrates 15 Years and $1 Million Raised For Research

New Executive Director and Board Members continue to build momentum as the largest single donor for UC Davis pediatric cancer research

Roseville, CA (June 19, 2013)— Keaton Raphael Memorial (KRM) today announced plans for its Inaugural Gala on Sept. 20, 2013, when the charity will highlight the past “15 years of Hope, Courage, and Strength” and its continued mission to fund the fight against childhood cancer,  raise awareness and support children with cancer and their families in northern California.

Keaton Raphael Memorial, a 501(c)3 non-profit, was established in 1998 following the death of 5-year old Keaton after his courageous, nine-month battle with neuroblastoma. Since then, the charity has raised more than $1 million for UC Davis pediatric cancer research. KRM also provides emotional, educational and financial support directly to children with cancer and their families.

“We are very proud of the positive difference that our hard-working volunteers and generous donors have made over the years in the lives of so many,” said KRM Executive Director, Teresa Hofhenke. “And yet each child facing and fighting cancer reminds us why we must continue these efforts with ever-increasing resolve.”

In March, KRM partnered with St. Baldrick’s Foundation for the 11th  year and hosted multiple events throughout the greater Sacramento area. In all, 711 individuals shaved their heads this year to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer research.

Jeanine Stiles, Chief Administrative Officer and Associate Director for Administration for the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, called Keaton Raphael Memorial a national leader in pediatric cancer awareness and research support. “Their continued financial support for innovative research is helping us break barriers to beat cancer,” she said. “We are overwhelmingly grateful for their generosity and their commitment to save lives.” Ms. Stiles also serves on the KRM Board of Directors.

The Inaugural Gala will be hosted by and held at the California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento with Union Pacific Railroad (NYSE: UNP) serving as the event’s “VIP Reception Sponsor.” Additional sponsorships are available.
