Supercuts’ commitment to KCCA goes beyond our head shaving events

Supercuts, and especially local salon owner Jodi McCray, have stood, or more accurately shaved alongside KCCA for more than a decade.

Jodi and her amazing team of professional stylists have graciously removed the hair of thousands of children, women and men throughout the greater Sacramento area all in the effort to raise much needed funds for pediatric cancer research at our St. Baldrick’s head shavings events.

This past March we reached an amazing milestone, surpassing $8 million raised to date for pediatric cancer research. An amazing achievement, only made possible with Supercuts help.

Supercuts’ commitment to KCCA goes beyond our head shaving events. Under Jodi’s leadership, the staff of all 22 of her Supercut locations throughout the greater Sacramento area are engaged with building awareness of childhood cancer and actively fundraising. Furthermore, Supercuts continues to be an annual partner sponsor to KCCA.

Jodi McCray’s amazing dedication and time spent helping KCCA live its mission is fueled by her amazing passion. A passion which comes directly from her beautiful heart. Jodi is a mother of a child who was diagnosed with cancer.

“Simply said…childhood cancer is a lonely disease for families. Friends don’t know what to say or how to comfort. It’s not their fault, they just don’t know. The well wishing phone calls, check in texts, BBQ invitations gradually stop. Life rolls on for others. But the battle to save your child’s life continues…its lonely.  KCCA is the “friendly face in the crowd” for lonely families. Networking, financial support, emotional support…a constant resource in a constant struggle. “ Jodi McCray

We are pleased to let you know that Jodi’s daughter survived her childhood cancer and is thriving as a young adult.  Simply said, Supercuts andJodi, thank you for sharing your time and passion with us.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Every 3 minutes, a family’s life is turned upside down when they hear the four devastating words, “Your child has cancer.” At Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance, we believe that every child deserves a fighting chance – and you can help make that a reality.

This month, we honor brave young warriors, remember our precious Angels, and stand with families fighting childhood cancer today. From fundraising events to volunteer opportunities, there’s a way for everyone to join this mission of hope.

Together, let’s Glow Gold and remind every family: you are not alone in this journey. This September, we shine a light of awareness, love, and unwavering support for every child and family facing childhood cancer.
