Meet Keaton’s Kiddo – Peyton

At just 3 years old resilient and joyful Peyton’s life was forever changed when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).

When Peyton’s mom, Dianna, noticed unusual symptoms like persistent low-grade fevers, pale skin, and unexplained bruises, she followed her instincts and pushed for further tests. This led to the heartbreaking leukemia diagnosis, but Peyton and Dianna quickly found solace in the network of support provided by Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance.

“You have helped my daughter and I so much. Every family that works with you is so lucky! I am grateful that we are still active with your charity,” shares Dianna, Warrior Mom.

From the moment Peyton started her treatments, Keaton’s was there every step of the way. “Whether through care packages, grocery deliveries to our doorstep, family events, connection to vital services, or just being a compassionate presence, you played a crucial role in helping us through the darkest days,” adds Dianna.

Peyton underwent two-and-a-half years of grueling chemotherapy and follow-up appointments. Throughout it all, her fiery personality and love for art kept her spirits high. Now, nearly three years cancer-free, 8-year-old Peyton who is now a third grader, speaks proudly of her journey. She loves sharing her story with others, inspiring many with her courage and determination. Peyton continues to thrive by being a part of the summer swim team and this fall exploring her interest in soccer!

Peyton and Dianna remain connected with Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance by attending events like the annual Holly Jolly Celebration, which have become an important part of their lives. Keaton’s ongoing support has helped Peyton not just survive, but thrive, reminding her that she is never alone in her fight.

The Unsung Heroes

When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the whole family is impacted. In this journey, siblings often become the unsung heroes—quietly showing strength, compassion, and resilience beyond their years.

While the focus is understandably on the child battling cancer, siblings face their own emotional challenges. They may experience feelings of worry, fear, confusion, or even guilt, and it’s important to acknowledge their role and provide support for them as well.

Conoce al niño de Keaton: Pedro

Facing the reality of three brain surgeries and years of chemotherapy, Keaton’s Teen Alliance Warrior, Pedro, embarked on a tumultuous journey that transformed him in ways he never anticipated.

In the summer of 2021, Pedro’s life took an unexpected and challenging turn. At just 14 years old, he was diagnosed with a juvenile brain tumor, known as “pilocytic astrocytoma”, a type of brain tumor that can occur in any area where astrocytes are present. While the tumor itself was benign, its size and location necessitated a rigorous regimen of surgical and chemical treatments.
