Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones you get to quietly watch from the outskirts.
Thank you to Willow & Oak for hosting such a beautiful movie night in partnership with It Takes Guts and creating a space where our families could simply come, relax, laugh, and enjoy being together.
As I looked around throughout the evening, I didn’t see kids with cancer.
I saw kids just being kids.
Kids running around playing tag. Tossing bean bags at cornhole. Throwing a football. Feeding goats. Laughing, making new friends, and soaking up a night outside before settling in for a movie under the stars.
And that is exactly why nights like this matter.
Childhood cancer asks so much of our kids and their families. There are appointments, treatments, hospital stays, medications, and more adult-sized worries than any child should ever have to carry. So when we can create moments where all of that gets to fade into the background, even for just one evening, and they simply get to be kids, that is something incredibly special.
A movie night under the stars was exactly what was needed.
We are so grateful for this growing relationship with Willow & Oak and It Takes Guts, and we are looking forward to building on it and creating more and more opportunities for our families to laugh, connect, make memories, and experience a little bit of normalcy together.
